Apple’s Foldable iPhone: What the Latest Leaks Reveal
Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone is rumored to feature a 5.49-inch cover display and a 7.74-inch main screen.
Apple has been rumored to be working on a foldable iPhone for nearly ten years. Every time we hear that the foldable iPhone is “coming soon,” new reports come out saying there are delays or other issues. However, in the past year, these rumors have become more frequent.
Some leaks suggest that Apple will call it the iPhone 18 Fold and that it will launch in 2026. It is also rumored that the device will have a foldable display that, when opened, will be larger than the iPhone 16 Pro Max screen. Additionally, Apple is said to be working on not just one but two foldable devices—the second one being a foldable iPad.
These different rumors are now starting to match up, which could mean there is some truth to them. The latest report claims to reveal the screen size details of this foldable iPhone, adding more weight to the speculation.
A new leak from a popular source on Weibo, called Digital Chat Station, says that Apple’s foldable iPhone will have two screen sizes. When folded, it will have a small 5.49-inch display, and when opened, it will expand to a bigger 7.74-inch screen.
The leak also compares this iPhone to another foldable phone, the Oppo Find N5, which was just released. The leak says that the iPhone Fold will be shorter but wider than Oppo’s phone.
Earlier, The Wall Street Journal also reported that Apple’s foldable iPhone would open up to be bigger than the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Since the iPhone 16 Pro Max has a 6.9-inch screen, this means the foldable iPhone’s screen will be at least 7 inches or more.
A few years ago, Apple was testing a foldable iPhone that would fold outward, meaning the screen would be on the outside when closed. But later, Apple changed its plan and started working on a design that folds inward, just like most foldable phones available today.
The leak also says that both the inside and outside screens of the foldable iPhone will have a unique shape and size that no other phone has seen before.
The leak says that Apple might launch the foldable iPhone next year or the year after that. The foldable iPad, which was mentioned earlier, is also expected to come around the same time.
Other experts, like Ming-Chi Kuo and big news sources such as The Information and The Wall Street Journal, have also said the same thing. They believe the foldable iPhone and iPad will be released in late 2026 or early 2027.
